Embers to the Flame: Part 12
Ambre snapped awake and sprung up. She wasn't in that hall anymore but instead in a large room full of empty cages, she herself in one as well.
"Ah, you're awake. I was beginning to wonder if you would ever wake up." Ambre turned and saw a man leaning against the wall pushed himself off and walked towards her cage, Tom Henderson.
"What happened?" she asked, her confusion probably well written on her face.
"My organization took steps to restrain you from causing any more damage after you went out of your way to personally breach into one of our former headquarters for no apparent reason."
"I was trying to save Rebecca."
"And you made the

With the day coming up to its end, the streets of Lumiose City filled up with traffic. There was almost no place to stop and look without someone bumping in behind. To a tourist, it would have been a nightmare. Ambre was then happy that she had both detailed directions and knew her way around most of the city. There was also an advantage with all of the people around her. If she was being followed or watched, it would be difficult to keep track of her let alone even follow.
She slipped behind a small path, Absol following closely behind her. As they walked through the quiet alley, Ambre looked behind her periodically to see if anyone else f

The note from the cryptic friend said for them to meet at the local cafe after she was done so that they could catch up. "This isn't Izzy's handwriting," Ambre commented to Absol as they headed in the direction. While it had been some time since the two had seen each other, the handwriting was too perfect and full of loops for Izzy's doctor like writing. And given how her other friends' writings could be best described as chicken scratch else not in cursive, it was probably something she could not nor should ignore.
Behind the gym was the cafe, in a small corner that would normally be hard to find. It was much like the rest of the buildings

Morning came with not only the sun shining through the window, but the deep snore from a Lucario in the opposite bed and the, thankfully, soft snore from Absol right next to Ambre's ear. Half awake, Ambre reached over for the alarm clock to get the time. A few minutes till seven. She would have gone back to sleep if it wasn't for a growl coming from her stomach. A good, early breakfast wouldn't hurt. Quietly, she got out of bed and took her entire backpack into the bathroom, locking herself inside. Some time to herself.
She didn't take long, Ambre was use to having to be quick. While her hair slowed her down, she imagined that she could even

"Just a sprained leg and a few burns, but he will be okay with just some treatment and a good night's rest," the nurse said.
"Thank goodness, I actually thought it was something much worse," Ambre commented, comfortably seated on the bed on the opposite side. She watched as the nurse then pulled out a small, green bottled and gently sprayed all over the Lucario closely, almost all the spray on him.
"Just rub it if it burns, okay? And don't take a bath or anything till tomorrow morning. I would also stay out of the rain else you would just wash it off," she said to the Lucario. He just nodded. With a smile, the nurse got up and collected her

The Lucario tried to get up, pain going across his face as he did.
"Hold on," Ambre reached out towards him.
He tried to get away, not get grabbed, but instead the Lucario fell over with more pain following suit. Ambre then held his shoulder, preventing him from running. But not tightly.
"You're wet," Ambre commented, running her finger through his fur, "And cold, were you watching in the rain the whole time?"
"Miss Ambre, is this your Pokemon?" Reed asked next to her.
"No, it's a wild one," she answered.
"Odd. What is a wild Lucario doing way out here in Laverre?" Reed asked.
"And why would your Delphox immediately attack it?" Valerie

Ambre woke up early, restless. At about six thirty, she rolled out of bed and got ready for the day. Even with the curtains closed and a door shut, Ambre could hear rain pounding and only being drowned out by the shower. She would have to call off any search for now. In the mean time, there was still the gym leader. Ambre stepped out of the shower and dried herself off.
As she began to comb out her hair, she began to wonder about the Umbreon. Was Rebecca actually her mother? Was it on a biological level? Surely not. Surely she was just the one that raised him, nothing more. Could it even be possible? She shrugged the idea and started to dry

Ambre spent the rest of the night in her room, alone. She didn't want to eat but didn't exactly want to put her Pokemon through the same thing as well. Instead, she left them with the center for the night, picking them all up when she was ready. She laid on one of the bottom bunks, staring at the mattress right above her.
Just last night, Ambre was working on defeating the gym leaders, becoming stronger, and going to the Indigo League. Just like every other trainer. Now she was being watched and threatened by some secret organization as well, though she didn't even know who they were to begin with. Unlike every other trainer who were probabl

Quickly thinking of a place to hide, Ambre immediately dashed off for the clothes store she saw earlier. The note was still clenched in her hand, hidden from anyone else even knowing that it existed. As she got some distance from the center, she briefly looked back to see if anyone was following. No one, no one seemed to be even watching her. Given the chance, Ambre slung her bag around and quickly stuffed the paper inside. Hopefully no one would try to pickpocket her.
She hoped that she was wrong, but the trainers in the Pokemon Center were probably the ones that had been searching for the Umbreon. Then the person who bumped in to her must

The crackling of the campfire was silenced by the loud chirping of the Pokemon in the wilds. It was definitely a noisy night for some reason. Ambre looked over at the edge of her small camp, having been defined by a rope of hanging tags with different markings and bushes hovering over just outside the perimeter.
Ambre should have stayed back at Lumiose and spend the night there, even if it would be expensive. But no, she figured she could get to Laverre City before sun down. She looked at her boots that were caked in mud next to the fire, letting out a huff of air at the thought. It wouldn't have been bad either, if it wasn't for the fact th
Coal was awoken by a warm, wet tongue licking his face. "Okay, I'm awake, I'm awake," he rolled over to stop the licking. Aki, now an Arcanine, had a weird habit of needing to wake up Coal every morning at around the same time. It was literally impossible for Coal to sleep in when he had a Pokémon constantly licking his face so long as he didn't get up. And he couldn't keep Aki out of his room. Last time he did that, she howled all through the night till Coal let her in. Hiding under the covers didn't save his face either: Aki was good at removing sheets from the bed as well.
With a final yawn, Coal pushed himself up from the bed. Ri
He couldn't sleep. Coal laid in bed, starring through the dark cream color fur of his roommate. His mind had been running like mad all night and nothing he did would silence it. And he should be asleep at the moment since he was in the perfect position to sleep. The bed was comfortably warm to the point of being noticeable but not scorching hot. The night was silent without a single noticeable sound; his roommate wasn't snoring this time.
But he couldn't fall asleep. All his mind would do is go back to what happened that day. And it seemed like a perfectly normal day to him. Nothing surprising happened to him. No one interesting talked to hi
